The Moranbah Hawks have started the new season with brand new shirts and signage, and multiple player and coaching clinics under their belt after receiving community grants totalling $14,000 over the last two years from Stanmore Resources.
Not long after the 2021 season kicked off, budding soccer superstars flaunted their new shirts featuring the Stanmore Resources logo — one of the major sponsors for this season.
Club President Warner Warner, who has been involved with the club for six years, said the grants have helped immensely over the last couple of years.
“The club has been around since 1974 and last year we felt like it needed a bit of love. Thanks to the support from Stanmore Resources, we were able to replace all the signage and give the club a bit of a facelift,” he said.
“We also like to run coaching and player clinics for the soccer community at Moranbah, and we were able to run multiple clinics last year with the funds provided.”
Starting in April, the club will use part of the community grant to provide a 12-seater bus to transport kids to Mackay games every second week.
“Unfortunately some of the kids are unable to make the regular trip due to challenges with the two-hour commute to Mackay. It will be a great opportunity for those who can’t usually make the games,” Warner said.
