Juniors’ day on the green

Junior golfers from across Central Queensland teed off at Moranbah Golf Club in August as part of the Moranbah Junior Open — an annual event that sees budding youngsters compete in their respective divisions for player of the year.

Aged from just four and up to 18 years old, more than 50 golfers took to the course, some travelling from as far as Mackay and Emerald to take part.

Stanmore Coal was proud to contribute gazebos and banners, as well as $2,500 towards trophies and prizes on the day, which included golf bags, backpacks, hats and golf balls.

Junior Club Treasurer, Krystal Brown, said the players eyes lit up during presentations when they received their winnings.

“The kids absolutely loved what they received and without Stanmore’s grant, we wouldn’t have been able to provide such great golfing prizes,” she said.

“This year with COVID-19, we haven’t been able to do any fundraising, so the grant provided a much-needed boost to help put some smiles on the kids’ faces.”
